OUR
PHILOSOPHY
At
CITY at work, we believe
we have a collective, collaborative responsibility as city
residents to give back to urban youth in the cities we work
and live in. CITY kids possess a keen curiosity and intelligence,
but their boundless potential often goes alarmingly unnoticed
or unencouraged. Low-income, urban students are often overwhelmed
by real life circumstances that make it difficult for them
to access education, resources, and their own unique talents.
At CITY at work we aim to develop
the full child, offering a continuum of educational services
that address the unique learning needs of K-12 students
in the schools.

COMPANY
HISTORY
CITY
at work
was founded in 2005 with the intent of providing much-needed
educational outreach to NYC urban youth. Our program has
two tiers:
First,
we partner with NYC schools to provide professional development
to administration and teachers, as well as student programs
in Science, Social Studies, Technology, and Multimedia.
CITY
at work creates curricular modules
that are age, content, and standard specific, and respond
to the urgent educational needs of NYC school-age student
Second,
we accept students into our specialized, in-house program
which offers year-round educational classes, workshops,
tutoring, and mentoring to NYC students, grades 8-12.
We work to pair NYC students with mentors, and internships
that will better prepare them for success in high school
and post-secondary education.
